NOW AVAILABLE -- in 6x9 paperback or as an e-book

In Alligator Eyes we peek into the mind of an unusual sixteen-year-old-boy. Jimmy Kinney spends most of his time cruising the suburban streets of Piscatchaway, New Jersey, offering us his misguided analysis of life.

It is winter of 1963: Jimmy, and his gang of neighborhood friends, The Nighthawks, are in trouble. But that's really nothing new for Jimmy - he slipped from grace soon after his father ran away from home and never really recovered.

Growing up in a cookie-cutter subdivision, it doesn't take him long to find out who his friends are. As the years pass, petty crimes become routine and hormones surge. Jimmy takes a new look at his childhood nemesis, a tomboy named Bonnie Cole. She becomes his first love. But their relationship has complications and the biggest is Mr. Cole, Bonnie's uncompromising father. When Mr. Cole literally catches Jimmy with his pants down, life becomes unbearable for the young couple. The Nighthawks come to Jimmy's rescue, planning a heist to raise money for the lover's escape.

On the big night of Jimmy and Bonnie's departure it's snowing heavily, the roads treacherous. When old man Cole and his hired thug find the two, sparks fly, but the real explosion of personalities and truth comes shortly after they're caught.

Alligator Eyes is the story of growing up, but not wising up. Its first-person narration exposes the intimate thoughts of a tough, street-wise kid and the husband he ultimately becomes. Written with a voice that echoes tones of Tom Wolfe, Jack Kerouac and J.D. Salinger, Alligator Eyes will keep you reading - and laughing.
